Elsham Wold wind farm

Wind Farm, Elsham
Saturday, 11 September 2004
Plans are being considered by North Lincolnshire Council for a proposed wind farm on land next to the Elsham Wold Industrial Estate at Elsham Top.
E. On UK Renewables (formerly known as Powergen Renewables) is applying for permission to erect up to 15 wind turbines on the Lincolnshire Wolds at Elsham, North Lincolnshire. The site is situated beside the main A15 trunk road which runs from the M180 junction at Elsham Top towards the Humber Bridge. The Viking Way long distance footpath runs along the eastern edge of the proposed site.
An environmental assessment has been prepared in which the visual and sound effects of the windmills are detailed. A process of consultation is beginning with those bodies and individuals affected in an area stretching from the Humber through to the Lincoln Edge near Scunthorpe down to Brigg, Barnetby and Melton Ross.
The wind turbines have 30 metre blades and stand on a mast 50 metres tall making a combined height of 80 metres. Up to 15 wind turbines, an environmental monitoring mast and support facilities are proposed.
A copy of the proposal and the assessment is available to the Scunthorpe Local Link (Church Square).
